How do I run an ATS check on my resume?

Using the built-in ATS checker and what the results mean for your application.

Running the check

The ATS checker is available from the export page. Click Check ATS Readiness after tailoring to run a structural analysis on your current resume draft.

The checker evaluates formatting, section structure, keyword alignment, and parsing risk factors.

Reading the results

Results are grouped into three areas:

  • Structure: issues with layout, columns, text boxes, or heading formats that could disrupt parsing.
  • Content: missing or underrepresented keywords and required skills relative to the job description.
  • Format: file-level issues such as fonts, special characters, or export artifacts.

What to do with the feedback

Fix structure issues first. They are the most likely to cause silent failures during ATS processing. Then address content gaps through manual edits or a re-tailor pass.

You do not need a perfect score to apply. A structurally clean resume with strong relevant content is more important than chasing a high ATS number.
